Target Audience

The target audience for this activity includes physicians, podiatrists, nurses, physical therapists, dietitians and others who manage wound care patients across the continuum of healthcare.

Statement of Need/Program Overview

The goal of this activity is designed to be a comprehensive course associated with concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of non-healing wounds. It is designed to be clinically relevant to daily wound care treatment and educate all providers to best practice to increase optimal patient outcomes and decrease patient morbidity.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain and assess wound etiology including metabolic and mechanical factors and related co-morbidities.
  • Identify risk factors, general diagnostics and treatment strategies to prevent skin ulcers of various etiologies.
  • Identify and treat ulcers of all etiologies include: diabetic, vascular and ischemic ulcers, atypical wounds, and pressure ulcers.
  • Explain surgical and non-surgical wound management and discuss various topical treatments and adjunctive wound therapies.
  • Address skin and wound issues in all patient populations, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Accreditation Statement 

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Cine-Med and the American Professional Wound Care Association. Cine-Med is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physician Accreditation Statement

Ciné-Med designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Accreditation Statement

This activity is approved for 21 contact hours for nurses.


This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards and requirements for approval of providers of continuing education in podiatric medicine through a joint provider agreement between International Conference Management and the American Professional Wound Care Association.  International Conference Management is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. International Conference Management has approved this activity for a maximum of 21 continuing education contact hours.


Non-physicians participating in this activity will receive completion certificates verifying that the activity was designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).

Refund/Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made in writing and/or postmarked by Friday, August 3, 2018 will receive a full refund less a $75 administrative fee. No refunds after Friday, August 3, 2018. No refunds for “no shows”.
